Department for Children, Schools and Families   - UK government department with responsibility for children's services, families, schools, 14-19 education, and the Respect Taskforce.

British Educational Communications and Technology Agency - BECTA is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) with a remit to ensure that technology supports the DfES's drive to raise educational standards. Includes an on-line bookstore.

Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) - Exists to improve the lives of children, young people, their families and carers by ensuring that all people working with them have the best possible training, qualifications, support and advice. Details of projects, qualifications, and resources.

Defence Animal Centre - The DAC is the military’s leading specialist canine and equine training centre in the UK. Courses are available to anyone considering utilising operational working dogs in the following areas. Search, drugs, explosives, currency, protection and patrol.

Education Research and Statistics Gateway - Offers access to a range of statistics covering education, training and life-long learning, from the former Department for Education and Skills, and from the new Departments for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) and Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).

Lifelong Learning Network - Government-supported website for the encouragement, promotion and development of lifelong learning, supported by the Individual Learning Division of the Department for Education and Skills.

Office for Fair Access (OFFA) - Promoting and safeguarding fair access to higher education. Information about the regulator, access agreements, news and events, and information for students.

Parents' Centre - Government site giving information about education in the UK. Covers curriculum, admissions, bullying, homework, choosing a school (including a school website search), performance tables, and Ofsted reports.

Planet Science - Designed to stimulate the imagination about science and technology. Provides science resources for primary and secondary school students and their teachers.

Special Education Needs & Disability Tribunal - Parents whose children have special educational needs can appeal to the tribunal against decisions made by LEAs in England and Wales about their children's education. Site provides information on the work of the tribunal.

Student Loans Company Ltd - Provides details of the Student Loans system which is part of the Government's financial support package for students.

TeacherNet - The UK government gateway for educational professionals. Offers teaching and learning resources, management tools, career advice, research and an education overview.

Training and Development Agency for Schools - Provides details on becoming a teacher as well as advice for those who are newly qualified. It also has pages devoted to a number of teaching subjects including IT and Special Needs.
